I am so grateful that we go to a church that has services on Saturday nights. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this! Jeremy and I are not very good morning people, I always feel like it takes us f o r e v e r to get out of the house in the morning..were big butt draggers! So we did church last night, and met some friends after at a hotel pool for our friends 30th birthday. It was nice to see friends, and Lewis had a ball playing with the other kids. Mom forgot the swim suit, so no swimming for us..we just hung out in a grassy area outside.
Today we wanted to go out and check another thing off of our 'summer before preschool' bucket list. Me and the husband had very similar childhoods growing up with camping and going to beaches pretty much every week out of the summer. I literally can not remember a summer of my childhood that did not include weeks spent at the campground. One part of camping that I love is being able to go to the beach. I love the beach, its just so relaxing and peaceful to me. Stepping into the sand and the smell of sunscreen immediately takes me back to so many great memories of my childhood. I definitely wanted to share my love of the beach with Lewis, however the last two summers have just not felt like the 'right' time for him to go and enjoy it. We had heard about Independence Lake in Whitemore Lake, and knew we immediately wanted to try it out and have Lewis take in his first beach experience.
He LOVED it! This lake was perfect, so clean and not too crowded. They had a splash pad right next to the swimming and sand area..it was really perfect. Lewis loved the 'sandbox' as he called it, and scoped sand into his bucket for about an hour straight. I asked him if he was trying to dig a hole to China, and he told me "Going to China." I was a bit worried how he would react, because he has had issues with walking on grass and different pavements before. It took him a few to get used to the sand between his toes, but he sure did love it once he did. I didn't think he would of wanted to venture out into the lake area, and mostly just use the splash pad..but he surprised us all when he just ran out into the water..Jeremy had to go running in after him! He kept saying "Oh boy!" "So much fun!" and "Best Sand Ever!" One of his new phrases is saying Best of...then adding on whatever he is playing with currently at the moment. Last night when we picked him up from Discovery Island, he said "Best Cherrioes Ever..and Best Jesus Ever!" He is just too funny! On a side note, as much as I love the beach..I hate swimming at the actual beach. I am scared to death of fish and water snakes..and I am so afraid they are going to bite me. My husband loves to tease me about this..allot.
I actually caught myself getting a little teary eyed while just sitting in the sand, with Lewis scoping by my feet, and the breeze in my hair. I was just so happy. I will be completely honest that these moments of pure happiness have been far and few between lately. We have been under allot of stress at home financially, trying to dig ourselves out of the debt hole, the preparation of having our family split apart for 2 months at the end of this year, and trying to have another addition to our family. Its hard when you are just so stressed out to just be happy. I am so grateful for this day of happiness, and for just a few hours when we literally had no worries in the world. Thank you God! I needed this day so badly!

We got home around 1:30, gave Lewis a quick shower and put him down for a nap. I myself even took a little nap, while Jeremy ran up to the store for some things.
We had grilled cheese, chips, and apples for dinner. Then my favorite, Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. The new addition of Strawberry Shortcake the cartoon, has had me craving it badly! I got caught up on some laundry and chores around the house. Lewis and Jeremy read some books together, Lewis played with his race cars, and played some games on the Ipad. I clipped the coupons out of the paper..which wow was this a good coupon week! I am excited at the idea of how much I am going to save at the grocery store from the coupons! When putting Lewis to bed tonight, his favorite thing to say goodnight too is pretty much everything in the world that exists. Tonight he said goodnight to the air, the moon, the bears, the fire engine, George, the sandbox, Thomas, and to the beach. Made me smile! My plans for tonight are to watch some more episodes of Friday Night Lights with Jeremy. We just started watching it from our Netflix que, and we are addicted..such a great show!
